Encountering God Together
Updated: Jul 30, 2020
Years ago I discovered a secret that makes Bible reading come alive. It's not reading to get more biblical knowledge or greater spiritual discipline, both of which are good. It's reading the Bible to get to know the Author. That's what makes it come alive. When you begin to experience God in the context of his Word your quiet time becomes the most important part of your day. It's not longer a boring discipline; it becomes the mainspring of your spiritual life.
More recently I've discovered a new angle to this secret: community-based Bible reading. I'm not talking about a group Bible study. What I mean is reading the same passages of Scripture over time with a group, a community of people, with the goal of experiencing God together is the key to spiritual health and power in the church.
In future posts I'll talk more about both Bible reading secrets but for now I'd want to encourage you to take a few minutes to watch (and share) this short video. Why? Because it's a simple expression of what I'm talking about. It's called Encounter with God Together. Enjoy!
